Plasma Cutting
In plasma cutting, a jet of plasma is used to melt metal and blow the molten metal away from the cut. Plasma cutting gives a clean edge on many materials so requires little finishing. Our plasma cutter can cut 10mm thick mild steel.
To achieve a good accurate and repeatable cut I use jigs extensively. Only occasionally for artistic work do I cut free hand.
Mild steel and stainless steel are being cut in the images below. They are being cut on a welding table with section used to raise the work and a clamped ruler jig to ensure perpendicularity and straightness of cut.
