Silversmithing

Silversmithing has been a hobby of mine for a few years now. I enjoy the challenge of building in silver.

Because of the cost of silver, I generally work in thinner gauges meaning control of temperature during a soldering operation is critical. I also find this makes me make smaller parts so detail work is very important.

I hand cut and file my silver work, I do this because it is the process of building more than the finished part that I enjoy. This is also why I tend to not polish out my tool marks on all my finished pieces, I cannot compete with industrialy produced silver so I prefer that the final piece shows signs of handworking.

I have split the displayed silverwork on this website into to main categories, the small and experimental and the large and complex.
