Measuring Assemblies / Reverse Engineering

Measuring features, components and assemblies is very important when sizing new or replacement parts for any machine. I have experience turning complicated assemblies such as engines and engine bays into dimensioned technical drawings. I have also measured outside areas to fit large external metalwork structures.

By a combination of appropriate datums, using correct tools and reference photography I am able to rapidly reverse engineer parts. My extensive CAD experience allows me to quickly produce accurate CAD models and drawing packs from my measurements.

Below are images of a 2D CAD drawing of a bus engine bay and reference photograph used in the design of mountings for a new heat exchanger and alternator.

Engine Bay Layout

This is the initial sketch of an engine bay that was later turned into a 3D CAD model in order to specify mountings for new components.
